Playa La Tejita

Golden sand and turquoise water of Playa La Tejita at the foot of Montaña Roja

Playa La Tejita is one of the most beautiful beaches in Tenerife, well worth a visit even for the most demanding traveller. It lies near the town of El Médano.

The sand is brown, and the beach stretches for about a kilometre.

A convenient car park nearby lets you leave your car without worry, just a stone’s throw from the beach.

There is also a chiringuito (a typical Canarian beach bar) where you can enjoy delicious cocktails and traditional Canarian dishes with ocean views.

The beach is particularly good for joggers, who can enjoy a healthy workout amid the magical atmosphere of the waves and the trade-wind breeze.

Away from the traffic of the towns, it suits visitors who want to enjoy the sun in peace at the foot of the spectacular Montaña Roja (a protected natural area), whose nature trails are recommended for keen hikers.

Note that there is almost always a breeze: this is in fact one of the windiest areas of Tenerife.
