Playa de la Arena

Black sand and clear water at Playa de la Arena, with palms, buildings and lava rocks

Playa de la Arena is a small, pretty beach of the area’s characteristic black sand, right in the town of Puerto de Santiago. It slopes fairly steeply but is still pleasant and suitable for everyone, families included.

Its typical ocean waves make it great fun for adults and children alike.

Playa de la Arena has been awarded the Blue Flag, a mark of unspoilt waters and high-quality facilities.

It is one of the island’s best-known spots for divers and attracts many diving clubs, thanks to its unspoilt seabed teeming with fish.

You can enjoy spectacular sunsets with the island of La Gomera as a backdrop. The facilities on site are adequate: parasol hire, showers, and several shops and restaurants on the street above.
