Playa del Cabezo or Playa del Puertito de Güímar

The long black-sand shore of Playa del Cabezo, with the sparkling sea and the breakwater

Playa del Cabezo, also known as Playa del Puertito de Güímar, lies in the port of Güímar in Tenerife. It is a black-sand beach with some shingle areas, and part of it has sun loungers and parasols for visitors who want them.

Breakwaters keep the sea calm and suitable for the whole family. It is considerably longer than other beaches on the island, and some stretches are quieter and less crowded.

One distinctive feature of this beach is a clearly marked-off section where pets are allowed too. Dog owners from the surrounding area meet up here, as it is one of the very few beaches to offer this.

There is a convenient car park nearby, but it is often completely full in high season, so if you are coming by car, it is best to arrive early in the morning.

In this attractive setting you’ll find several bars and restaurants serving excellent fresh fish.
