Playa Grande

The golden-sand cove of Playa Grande in Porís de Abona, with white houses on the headland

Playa Grande is in the municipality of Arico, more precisely in Porís de Abona, in the south of Tenerife. It is a lovely beach with golden sand and clear water, and from this stretch of coast there is a fine panoramic view of the majestic Teide.

Peace and quiet reign on this little-known beach, used mainly by locals. It has no special facilities and no first-aid post, so even though the water is particularly calm, take care when swimming.

It lies in a very windy area (here you can admire the characteristic windmills of the Canary Islands), so it is recommended for fans of water sports such as surfing and kitesurfing.

It is the ideal place for anyone who loves to relax in peace and quiet and wants to spend a tranquil day far from the busiest, most hectic resorts.

There is a convenient car park nearby where you can leave your car before enjoying a day of sun and sea.
