Playa Jardín

Cactus and palm garden in front of Playa Jardín’s black sand, Puerto de la Cruz

Designed by César Manrique, one of the most famous and brilliant Canarian artists, Playa Jardín is the main beach in Puerto de la Cruz and one of the largest and most beautiful in Tenerife.

It lies in the north of the island and, in keeping with Manrique’s architectural vision, exotic gardens have been planted along its 700-metre shoreline. Its black sand has been completely regenerated with 200 cubic metres of sand taken from the nearby seabed to make it more compact.

It has been awarded the Blue Flag and is protected by a large, partly submerged rock breakwater.

It offers the main facilities, including sun lounger and parasol hire, and is equipped for water sports. Nearby there is a spacious car park and stops for scheduled bus services.

With its surroundings adorned with pretty gardens, waterfalls cascading over the rocks and small pools, it is the ideal place to take unforgettable photos and capture your holiday on the island.

Lying in the sun on the beach, you can admire the majestic Teide volcano, sometimes capped with snow, which creates a fantastic contrast between sea and mountain.

In the surrounding area, a range of shops, restaurants and disco bars keep visitors entertained, and there is plenty of accommodation nearby.
