El Caletón de Garachico

The natural pools of El Caletón in Garachico among lava rocks, with bathers and parasols

El Caletón de Garachico: the 1706 eruption of the Volcán Negro destroyed the port, and in its place fantastic natural pools were formed, sculpted by the lava that flowed down to the sea.

The locals have turned these distinctive seawater pools into a tourist attraction, building paths and steps so that bathers can use them.

El Caletón has become one of the town’s main attractions. As you bathe in the pools of this natural paradise, you can enjoy views of the town and the valley above.
