Castillo de San Miguel

The dark-stone Castillo de San Miguel overlooking the sea in Garachico

The Castillo de San Miguel stands on the coast of the town of Garachico.

It was built between 1575 and 1577 to protect the town from pirate attacks, as Garachico was at that time the island’s commercial capital and one of its main ports.

It has been a Site of Cultural Interest since 1985.
