Note: The dates given in this article refer to the 2016 edition of the festival.
This major event for hiking enthusiasts is held in Tenerife from 29 March to 2 April 2016. It takes place every year and attracts walkers from all over Europe.
The walks are perfectly organised and can be booked directly on the festival’s website.
Tenerife has a dense network of footpaths for keen walkers, totalling around 1,500 kilometres. With average temperatures of 23°C, the climate makes walking possible in every month of the year.
The Tenerife Walking Festival is organised by the Cabildo Insular de Tenerife in collaboration with the European Ramblers’ Association (ERA), the Spanish Mountain Sports and Climbing Federation (FEDME) and the Canary Islands Mountaineering Federation (FECAMON).
All routes start from Plaza de los Reyes Católicos in Puerto de la Cruz; participants meet there half an hour before departure.
The walks are divided as follows:
- 3 Coastal routes
- 6 Volcanic routes
- 6 Green routes
The organisers have put together a varied programme of easy, moderate and difficult walks to suit as many walkers as possible.
